Kumar Venkat is the founder and principal engineer of Surya Technologies. Kumar has 20 years of experience developing leading-edge computer software and hardware products.
Kumar started out as a hardware design engineer, and designed microprocessors, cache controllers, and high-speed memory systems at such companies as Intel, Sun Microsystems and Silicon Graphics. For the past 12 years, he has focused exclusively on developing EDA (electronic design automation) software, strongly leveraging his prior background as a chip designer and user of EDA tools.
Kumar’s primary EDA expertise is in static timing analysis, which he has expanded into the broader area of static design analysis and optimization. After leading an R&D project to develop a gate-and-transistor-level static timing verifier for microprocessor designs at the MIPS division of Silicon Graphics, he started Surya Technologies in late 1995.
Kumar holds a Masters degree in electrical and computer engineering. He has several technical publications and papers to his credit, as well as two US patents.
